Plano inclinado - Standing frame

O Artur tem estado a usar diariamente um plano inclinado que nos foi emprestado\alugado. assim ele pode estar na posição de pé e exercitar os músculos das pernas e tronco.

Artur has a standing frame that we rent, so now he can be up on his feet. That way he can exercise his legs muscles.

3 anos - 3 years old

A comer gelado - Eating ice cream

O Artur já tem 3 aninhos! Fez aninhos no passado dia 17, ainda não fizemos a festinha mas será em breve! Passou o dia comigo e com o pai, comeu gelado, foi passear e teve direito ás comidinhas favoritas dele!

Artur has already 3 years! He turned 3 on the 17th, we didn't do his birthday party yet. On his birthday he had an ice cream all for him, went out with me and dad and had all his favorite foods!

Ano novo - New Year

Não tenho posto novidades desde Novembro. Fazendo um apanhado das novidades:
O Artur foi a consulta de neuro-oftalmologia e ficou determinado que em Abril irá fazer um exame para poderem avaliar os olhos dele, como não tem cooperado nos exames no consultório terá de ser anestesiado e observado no bloco operatório.
Foi também à consulta de neurologia e continua estável com a medicação da epilepsia, apenas se trocou um medicamento por causa do sabor pois ele já não gosta do que estava a tomar.
Segura melhor a cabeça e começa a dar sinais que quer passar cada vez mais tempo sentado, ficando mesmo irritado quando o deitamos faz birra e tudo!
Foi visto pela Otorrinolaringologista dele que lhe receitou medicação devido ás suas otites cerosas. Um dos medicamentos será para fazer o ano todo excepto no mês de Agosto.
Segunda-feira, (finalmente) iremos conhecer a nova terapeuta da fala. Ainda não sei quantas vezes virá cá a casa nem que horário. Neste momento ele faz a fisioterapia 2x por semana, a natação (que adora!!!) 1x por semana, e vem cá a casa uma educadora de infância do grupo de intervenção precoce da nossa área de residência.

Na passagem de ano o Artur adorou ver o fogo de artificio!!! Ficou a olhar pela janela de olhos bem abertos num misto de encanto e espanto!

Now in english:

I haven't been around here since November... Well, we've got some catching up to do:
Artur went to the neuro-ophthalmology appointment, and because he didn't let her see clearly his eyes, he has to do an exam with anesthesia in the OR.
He had also a neurology appointment and since all is under control (epilepsy) with the medicines he didn't had to adjust the doses, just changed one of the medicines because he doesn't like how it taste anymore.
Was also in a otorhinolaringologist (ENT) and she gave him some medicines for his serous otites (he has them since he was examined for the first time). One of the medicines he only will stop taking in August. He has to take it for a year and then hopefully will stop having them. (fingers crossed!)

Monday, we'll finally meet his new speech therapist! Lets see how many times she will be coming to our home to work with Artur and which days. For now he has PT 2x week, swimming class (which he absolutely loves) once a week, and 2x week a childhood educator (?) in our house.

On New Year's eve, Artur loved the fireworks! He was really amazed and happy to see all the firework and all the sounds and bangs he really loved it!

a ver TV - watching TV

Sei que não tenho escrito no blog sobre o Artur mas tenho andando atarefada com outras coisitas.
Segunda feira ou terça espero ja pôr aqui novidades fresquinhas.

I know I haven't been here updating on Artur's life, but I've been a little bit busy with some other stuff. I'll post some fresh news on Monday or Tuesday.

pequenas novidades - some little news

O Artur há uns dias que descobriu que se pode divertir sozinho. Descobriu que é divertido brincar com as mãos, sim já brincava mas não se ria. Agora por vezes dou com ele entre risadas e gargalhadas a brincar sozinho, super entusiasmado e divertido! Adoro ouvir o risinho dele!

A few days ago Artur figured out he could play alone and have fun. He found out that his hands are quite funny, he already played with them a long time ago but he didn't laugh. Now sometimes I hear him laughing and giggling while he's playing alone with his hands. I just love to hear him laughing!

Ferias - vacation

As férias este ano foram muito boas! No início de Agosto o Artur teve 2 consultas, uma com o audiologista para ver como se estava a dar com os aparelhos e a outra foi de Genética para a médica ver como ele estava agora com 2 anos. Estivemos junto à praia e o Artur apesar de achar a água do mar fria adorou. Os primeiros momentos não gostava muito do toque da areia mas depressa se habituou. Compramos uma "mochila" de montanhismo na Decathlon para poder levar o Artur sem o carrinho para a praia. Ele adorou! Adormecia sempre com o embalo do movimento dos nossos passos. Relativamente ás consultas, a primeira (audiologista) correu mais ou menos pois o Artur não quis cooperar na tentativa de testes para perceber como reage com aparelhos, mas vão tentar novamente e se necessário farão outro tipo de exame. A consulta de Genética foi para a médica saber como o Artur estava em termos de evolução agora que tem 2 anos, e ficou contente com a evolução dele e por ele continuar a fazer progressos, devagar é certo, mas sempre a evoluir!

We had really great vacations this year! In the beginning of August Artur had 2 doctor appointments, one because of the hearing aids and the other was a follow up with the genetics doctor. We were by the beach almost all month  and Artur really liked the sea water even though it was really cold. The first day we went to the beach he didn't like to much too feel the sand but after a while he got used to it. We bought a sort of backpack to go with Artur to the beach without using his baby carriage (?), he loved it and every time he was there he fell asleep lulled by the motion of our steps. Well, about the appointments, the first one didn't go to well 'cause Artur didn't cooperate while they tried to test him with the hearing aids on, but they try it again and if it fails again they'll do a different test. The Genetics appointment went really well, the doctor did the follow up and really like the development that Artur has achieved, its true that they develop slowly but as long as they keep having some developments and achieve new goals all is good because that's the most important thing! :P
