Good news!
Some people know that the moment the doctor prescribed the wheelchair I started emailing every company I could think of to ask for help to get the chair or to offer it to Artur.
Thanks to the company where his dad works that offered the chair to Artur now he has it. I want to thank them from the bottom of my heart. Now he can start the new school year with a wheelchair that's going to make all the difference.

Novidades - News

News for the ones that don't know it yet...

Artur is now a big brother. Ivo was born on April 23rd. Even though he is still a little baby we see that he loves to watch his big brother Artur, and Artur also loves to watch is baby brother. To avoid any sensation of discomfort in Artur we give Artur and Ivo the same amount of love and attention. ;)

To those who had a child with special needs first, the arrival of a baby thats "normal" is almost like being a mother for the first time. Not on the way of not knowing what to do, but a simple thing like the head strength of a newborn or the size of the fontanelle (soft spot) seems strange. The parents of children with no problems may think these is a strange thing to say but who had a special child first or second can relate to this. And those moms that have more that one kid understand me when I say that it was really difficult to stay in the hospital when Ivo was born. Artur went to visit me but it was hard not to be with him, and because I had a c-section it became harder because I couldn't hold him.

Back to Artur, between April 2nd and May15th, Artur grew almost 3 cm (about 1,5 inch) and gain 1 kg! The weight gaining was the biggest WIN because of the difficulty that is for the kids with 1p36 to gain some weight. He is still well adjusted to the kindergarten and to all his little buddies. Now we are trying to keep him from putting his hands on the mouth... Its a hard battle and he has marks on his fingers and nails, but we ended this behavior once and I hope we can do it again. (Even though I know is something 1p36 kids do).
We bought an electric toothbrush to Artur because he doesn't let me wash his teeth for too long or even well enough, so the pediatrician suggested the electric toothbrush because the time he let me wash his teeth (even for a short period of time) is more effective that with a manual.
